A news report said to be by BBC News claims the Zambian government has offered to send two thousand nurses to Ukraine.

The report has been widely shared in several platforms and on some Facebook pages. Although the story is said to have been shared by BBC on their twitter account, a search by MakanDay found that no such story exists.

VERDICT

The report is not true. Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Professor Lackson Kasonka said: “If the information is there for sure it is not from the Ministry of Health. You should know that we do not control all the nurses they are different organisations that engage nurses and the nurses are at liberty through different associations. So, they can organize themselves and go and render support. For sure it is not from our initiative as the Ministry of Health and l have not heard about yet.”
